📌 In a few words

We are looking for an APM/Observability Engineer to join our team and accompany our customers in Basel.

🎯 Your mission

As an APM/Observability Engineer you will work on various customer projects delivering services related to Application Performance Monitoring and Observability. You will gain experience of a wide range of tools and technologies and be part of teams delivering critical insights and improvements to business-critical systems. You will also have the chance to shape our APM & Observability services and design new solutions as well as learning from our many experienced engineers and long history of past projects. Your role will have a technical focus, but you will also sometimes work as part of large teams and report directly to customers.

💼 Your profile

• Expert knowledge of APM tools (e.g. Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc) and/or tools in related areas such as Splunk, Elastic, etc, including experience in integrating these tools into existing DevOps, CI/CD or IT Operations platforms.

• Experience of complex APM/Observability implementation including requirements analysis, planning & design, instrumentation, dashboarding.

• Experience of different monitoring techniques such as End User Monitoring, OS/platform monitoring, and monitoring of distributed systems covering metrics, logs, traces, events.

• Knowledge of (or ability to quickly learn) OpenTelemetry and related Observability tools & techniques (Prometheus, Grafana, etc).

• Good understanding of Performance Engineering and the software development process.

• Experience of different software application architecture designs.

• Expertise in debugging and diagnosing performance issues and recommending tuning improvements at design, coding & configuration levels.

• Experience in multiple programming languages/frameworks/technologies, including expert knowledge of multiple technical domains e.g. Java, .Net, Android/iOS, JavaScript, SRE/DevOps, databases, networks etc.

CI/CD or DevOps pipelines (e.g. GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc).

• Experience working with cloud platforms and/or cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, microservices architectures).

• Experience with hypervisor solutions like VMWare or MS Hyper-V.

Other relevant skills/experience:

• Fluent written & spoken English is required. German or French are also an advantage.

• It is an advantage if you have previous experience as a consultant – working with customers on large, mission-critical projects; working in large teams with multiple stakeholders.

• Proven ability to overcome complex technical challenges.

• Ability to effectively report and present findings with the knowledge and authority to influence technical decisions.

• It is an advantage if you have experience in training/coaching/leading more junior colleagues.
